Happy Mother's Day

My bad mothering is apparently as bad as my daughtering, as I didn't get a mother's day present nor did I get my mom a present (delivered, but she will come down and I will give it to her). Anyway, I told my mom I would post pictures of Hazel on her cutie-cute bike and here they are. Two days late.

First, the other day (I think last Friday) I painted Hazel's fingers and toes. And then I forgot to put away the nail polish. Because I am an idiot and forgot a three-year-old lives in my house. She found the nail polish and proceed to paint (a) her face, (b) her body, (c) the computer chair, (d) the rug and (e) the floor. I hate the computer chair so it didn't get cleaned, the floor will be refinished (eventually) but we were able to get the rug and the kid cleaned. Doh. Also, notice how her gut is hanging out? She gets that from me. Poor thing.
But look how cute she is on her bike! We rode to the store. Which was WAY too far. But, Hazel was a trooper.
Ack! The cuteness is killing me!*
Remember this shirt from baby fights in 2006? Well, it still fits. Hazel also ups the tough-factor by 3 by adding a headlamp.
Geoff and Hazel went hiking today with the neighbors, Emi and Jack. Hazel loves having a hiking stick. Plus, she is finally big enough for her Camelbak to start to fit her.
Hat? Oh, it seems to be missing. I am hoping Geoff at least remembered the sunscreen. Oh, turns out he did.
The end.
Mom: Hope this counts for something. I really do have a present for you. Love you lots. Thanks for helping me become the mom I am today.

*Okay, so not to take away from the cuteness I am moving this story to the bottom. While we were coming home from the store, we were on 9th south in front of the bike store and there is the slightest incline ever and Hazel got going a little fast and crashed into a lady (girl? I don't know she was probably about 20). Everyone was okay but Hazel got nervous, I was nervous (because, come on, my kid hit someone!) and it bad for a long trip home. But, she is getting over it and willing to ride again. Plus, she has been practicing her braking. A lot.

My Hazel!

Zoe Jane gave Hazel her old bike. Don't worry, Zoe got a new bike. Hazel LOVES her bike. It is still a little big for her but I think she should fit it by summer. And even if she can't she will still try to ride.

I like the worried smile. It seems like Hazel has the worried look a lot.
Walrus.

Scary face. Scary! Face! I like it even better when she has her tongue out with the scary face.
Hazel hair is finally long enough for decent pigtails. Except for the bangs, which we are growing out. But, I think the pigtails are darling. And do a pretty good job of keeping her hair out of her face.
Zoey (as opposed to Zoe, of bike fame) came to visit. The girls had a great time jumping on Hazel's bed. Best of all, Hazel didn't get a single yellow card*.
*You know, for unneccassary roughness. I am so up on my sports terms.

Trip to the zoo and riding bikes

**NOTE: I know the formatting is funky, but it is too hard to fix it. It went all crazy when I edited the HTML. I am just happy that I updated. **

Last weekend we went to the zoo with Gloria and Anthony and Steven and Grandma Marilyn and Grandpa Bernie and Jenni. The cousins posed for a picture on the rhino. Jenni got a better picture but I am too lazy to go get her picture. But, it would look like this, but better.

It was a rather adventurous day at the zoo. We saw the giant tortoises, let's say "hug". Oh, it was hilarious. And then we watched the zoo keepers feed the crocodiles rats (dead rats). It was disgusting, but awesome.

We also saw lots more animals. And we rode on the train. And we fed some ducks. And we played on the playground. And we pet a snake. And Hazel was so nice about holding Gloria's hand. Until she wasn't. (Note: this was the only "incident" of the day, the rest of the time Hazel was nice and kept her hands and mouth to herself, and we caught it pretty quickly)

Then on Sunday we celebrated Auntie Jenni's 27th birthday. Grandma and Hazel bonded over slots.

Yesterday, the mama and the Hazel went to the Farmer's Market. The mama likes to wear her hydration pack. The Hazel likes to do what the mama does and wanted her own. So, I rigged a waistpack hydration pack (that I hated) into a little backpack (that Hazel loves). Here she is showing off how cute she is in her little backpack.

She thought something was hilarious. I am not sure what...

It is tiring riding to the Farmer's Market. It is not really that far of a distance but there are hills (slight ones) and then if there is wind, which there was on Saturday, it is really hard. You wouldn't think adding an extra 60 pounds and a giant wind-catcher would make a difference, but let me tell you. It does. Anyway, even though Hazel just has to ride in the trailer, she was still tired after the trip.
